“La Pampa Guanacasteca” is without a doubt one of the most important cultural areas within Costa Rica. Experience in our Guanacaste Essence tour the cultural heritage, the people and the amazing traditions of beautiful land.
The main economic industries of our rural province are agriculture and cattle raising. Feel you are traveling back on time visiting with us centennial houses, churches, crops and towns that continue living like our ancestors did.
Our first stop is an old Costa Rican Hacienda. You will visit a sugar cane crop and learn about how it is harvested with rudimentary methods. Enjoy fresh “chorreado” Costa Rican coffee, home-made tortillas, cheese and other local recipes.
Keep your eyes wide open as even on the road we will discover picturesque cultural expressions such as the artisan “Areneros”, a group of men who work extracting sand from the river with its carts and oxen. We will also pass by scenic cantaloupe and sugar cane crops.
Art is also present in our Guanacaste Essence tour. Guaitil, known as “ The Pottery Village” will captivate you. In this town, almost everyone are artisans and create beautiful pieces with the same technique the Chorotegas (indigenous tribe) used to do. We will see a demonstration and you will also have the opportunity of buying a piece of this craft that holds with pride a D.O. quality seal.
For lunch we will visit the historic city of Santa Cruz, which name translates to Holy Cross. This town is considered one of the most valuable in Costa Rica due to its folklore.
